Oppo provide excellent service in issuing updated firmware on a regular basis. The process employed is to issue a Beta firmware to the public for trial, and then after successful feedback, promoting this firmware to an official release.

Merlin Audio Design recommends that customers wait until the official release before updating to new firmware, or until the Beta firmware has been tested by us in conjunction with the installed Standard & Professional Region_Free/Zone_Select kits.
Once a new firmware is installed, one cannot re-install to an earlier version.
Recent experience has revealed that new firmware can affect the performance of the Standard and Professional kits on offer.

The Professional kit has its own firmware that can be updated, if required, to ensure the correct functioning of the kit with any new firmware release.

The Standard kit is fixed in firmware and by the way it is implemented, is relying on future Oppo firmware updates not to affect its performance.

The current official Oppo Firmware release is: BDP9x-61-1219 dated December 21st 2011:
The Standard Kit has been tested successfully.
***The latest BETA firmware BDP9x-64-0119B has been tested with the Standard kit and BD zone change was successful.***

The Professional kit will need firmware upgrade 1g for players purchased prior to 6th November.
Players with kit firmware 1h will work with this latest Oppo Firmware.

(If zone change fails for you then re-install the 1g or 1h firmware respectively.)***

NOTES
1. Do not load the newer 1h firmware to kits purchased before 6th November 2011.
2. Not all usb sticks work properly when the Professional kit attempts to read the 1g firmware. The usb stick brand 'Sandisk' appears to work every time. Was available from Australia Post & OfficeWorks.
